JAKARTA - The existence of competent and competitive human resources is one of the main keys in increasing the productivity and performance of the manufacturing industry. Efforts to develop competent industrial human resources are carried out by the Industrial Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDMI) of the Ministry of Industry, including through education activities and industrial vocational training and preparation of competency infrastructure in the industrial sector.

The implementation of industrial vocational training has been carried out by BPSDMI since 2014 through the Training program 3 in 1 (Training, Certification and Placement). By 2021 at least 225,000 people have been produced through this program in various industrial sectors.

"The program, which was originally intended only for the preparation of prospective workers in industrial companies (skilling), has also been developed to improve labor competence both up-skilling and re-skilling. The design of the training curriculum and module is developed according to industrial needs through the preparation of Competency-Based Training Programs and Modules," said Head of BPSDMI Arus Gunawan in a written statement, quoted Thursday, December 1.

There are 7 Ministry of Industry's Industrial Training Centers spread across various regions in Indonesia, which hold 3 in 1 Training Centers not only at the seven Education and Training Centers, but also in other cities so that the benefits of training can be felt evenly.

"BPSDMI is also always active in the preparation of competency infrastructure needed by the industrial sector, including the availability of Indonesian National Work Competency Standards (SKKNI) along with the Indonesian National Qualification Framework (KKNI), Professional Certification Institutions (LSP), Competency Acesors and Competency Test Places (TUK) to facilitation of competency certification. This is done so that the wheels of the Indonesian industry are really driven by competent industrial workers," said the Head of the Center for Industrial Human Resources Education and Training, Tirta Wisnu Permana.

To date, there are at least 177 SKKNI, 16 KKNI and 84 LSP industrial sectors. BPSDMI also facilitates the preparation of competency assessors and facilitation of competency certification for industrial workers every year. At least 1,705 competency assessors have been produced and 33,000 people have received certification facilitation from 2015 to 2022.

The training program of the Ministry of Industry cannot be separated from the role and cooperation of the industry. Therefore, the Ministry of Industry continues to collaborate with industries, one of which is through Industrial Gathering activities. Industry, Associations, and Education Units can share their experiences in implementing competency infrastructure in the implementation of industrial vocational education and training.

"With good collaboration and synergy between all parties, both the Industrial/Profession Association, industrial partner companies, Professional Certification Institutions (LSP), Ministries and Central and Regional Institutions, Domestic and Foreign Agencies will accelerate the development of National Industrial Resources," said Vishnu.
