JAKARTA - Small and medium industries (IKM) under the guidance of the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) reaped a transaction of IDR 863 million at the 37th Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) international exhibition event in 2022.

"The report on sales of IKM products facilitated by the Ministry of Industry reaches more than Rp. 863 million. That is also specifically for finished clothing products, footwear, fashion accessories, and skin products. The potential value of food product transactions can even be more than that," said the Director General of Small and Medium Industries (IKMA) of the Ministry of Industry, Reni Yanita, quoted from Antara, Thursday, November 24.

The Directorate General of IKMA at the Ministry of Industry facilitated 40 IKM players to participate in the 2022 TEI exhibition organized by the Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) in collaboration with related ministries and institutions.

Of the 40 IKMs, the Directorate General of IKMA provided bridge facilitation in the form of booth construction equipped with supply infrastructure for 28 IKMs in hall 10 and 12 fashion IKMs in hall 3A ICE BSD.

"IKM facilitated is IKMs that already have the ability and quality of ready-to-export products, and have complete business and export permits," said Reni.

"This IKM comes from Java, Bali, and West Nusa Tenggara," he added.

In the TEI exhibition, continued Reni, IKM products received warm welcome from many buyers, both local and foreign.

"IKM products are synonymous with uniqueness in the model, design, and way of producing them, coupled with the stories of makers who also start running sustainable businesses while still paying attention to environmental and social impacts. This story is a plus for IKM," he explained.

For example, the Wastra product from the Kekean of the Wastra Gallery with its endek weaving and batik fashion products is getting more and more popular after being proposed by the famous French fashion house, Christian Dior.

The design with Balinese endek woven fabric made by Kekean has succeeded in becoming one of the collections of Spring/Summer 2021 Christian Dior.

"It's no wonder that after that the Kekean of the Wastra Gallery will rise and its products will be hunted by potential buyers at the TEI event until the total transaction reaches more than Rp500 million," said Reni.

Furthermore, CV Karya Temanesia, which produces fashion and accessories from silk cultivated by local farmers in Pasuruan and Malang, also received a positive response from potential buyers at TEI.

Temesia's work has empowered silk farmers, stakeholders and silkworm farmers in East Java to produce clothing, scarfs, and fashion accessories labeled KaIND. At the TEI event, KaID's product transactions also reached more than Rp. 100 million.

The prestige of TEI 2020 was attended by 795 business actors and there were 2,800 buyers from 176 countries.

At the Ministry of Industry booth, visitors who attended consisted of foreign buyers, ITPC, trade attaches, large industries, retail, investors, and other communities.

The buyers who have officially made transactions with IKM at the Kemenperin platform are from Malaysia, Australia, Sri Lanka, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Nigeria, and the Netherlands.

Meanwhile, buyers from America and Mexico are still potential buyers who are still undergoing the negotiation process.
