Going Global, PGN Gas Subholding Pertamina Jajaki Suplai And LNG Infrastructure In Bangladesh

JAKARTA - PT PGN Tbk as Pertamina's Gas Subholding continues to expand the international natural gas market through meeting the needs of Liquidized Natural Gas (LNG) in Bangladesh. With the control of more than 90 percent of the natural gas market in Indonesia, PGN is enthusiastic about being part of LNG's business development in Bangladesh as both a supplier of LNG and an infrastructure provider in Bangladesh.

In order to explore the potential of the natural gas business in Bangladesh, PGN and Intraco signed a Memorandum of Understanding regarding the development of LNG supply and natural gas infrastructure in Bangladesh. The signing was carried out by Heru Setiawan as Director of PGN's Strategy and Business Development with Mohammed Riyadh Ali as Managing Director of Intraco Refueling Station Ltd. and witnessed by Indonesian Ambassador to Bangladesh and Nepal, Heru Subolo, Wednesday 19 October.

"In this collaboration, in the future, it is hoped that PGN will play a role as an LNG cargo provider that can sustain Bangladesh's economic growth. Collaboration is also carried out for the potential development of other natural gas businesses in the gas, household and other transportation sectors," explained Heru Setiawan.

Heru continued that PGN has experience in managing the midstream business to downstream natural gas, domestic and international LNG portfolios, as well as experience in managing FSRU and other LNG facilities.

"We are increasingly optimistic about realizing an increase in the natural gas business in the international market. Hopefully this cooperation can continue until the commercial execution stage," said Heru.

For Bangladesh, this collaboration will lead to energy security in Bangladesh as a source of economic power in South Asia. Historically, natural gas has become one of the main sources of energy utilized by more than 60 percent in Bangladesh. The fulfillment of natural gas will be combined with the implementation and development of technology and commercialization of natural gas utilization so that it will push Bangladesh to new levels.

In his remarks by the Indonesian Ambassador to Bangladesh, Heru Subolo appreciated PGN and Intraco for this step and so that the details and implementation of this collaboration can be carried out immediately.

"With economic growth quite high and stable at 6 percent, the Bangladesh market is very open not only in the oil and gas sector but also in the non-oil and gas sector," said Subolo.

"Hopefully this MOU will further improve relations between Indonesia and Bangladesh," he added.

PGN as a representative of Indonesia and the PT Pertamina (Persero) Oil and Gas Holding is ready to strengthen cooperation with Bangladesh. This collaboration also fosters bilateral economic diplomacy relations between Indonesia and Bangladesh that have been established so far.

PGN also ensures that the fulfillment of energy and the implementation of other business potentials will provide benefits for both Indonesia and Bangladesh.
