BI's Report Expresss Optimism For Anjlok's Economy Right On The Month Of Increased Fuel

JAKARTA - Bank Indonesia (BI) reports that based on the latest survey conducted, it was revealed that in September 2022 there was a decrease in consumer optimism for economic conditions.

BI Communications Department Director Junanto Herdiawan said the Consumer Confidence Index (IKK) last month was 117.2. This figure is lower when compared to August 2022 which was 124.7.

However, the central bank believes that the overall economic condition is still well maintained.

The Consumer Confidence Index remains at an optimistic level, which is more than a 100 scale. This indicates that consumer optimism for economic conditions is maintained," he said in a written statement on Monday, October 10.

According to Junanto, consumer confidence in September 2022 is still supported by the strong Consumer Expectation Index (IEK).

"This is mainly seen in the components of the income expectations index and job availability expectations," he said.

For information, September 2022 is the same period when the government made a number of adjustments to fuel oil (BBM) prices for subsidized types.

"Meanwhile, consumer optimism for current economic conditions is supported by optimism about current income and availability of jobs, although not as strong as the previous month," concluded Junanto.
