JAKARTA - Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani said that various international institutions appreciated the performance of the Indonesian economy which was considered to have good resilience in the midst of high global pressure.

According to her, several world organizations agreed that Indonesia's economic growth this year could reach the level of 5.1 percent to 5.4 percent.

"Our growth is estimated to still grow better in 2022", she said at a press conference on our State Budget, Monday, August 26.

The Minister of Finance explained that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) organization considers Indonesia to grow by 5.3 percent this year and 5.2 percent next year.

In line with that, the World Bank predicts that Indonesia can achieve growth rates of 5.1 percent in 2022 and 5.3 percent in 2023.

Then, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) stated that Indonesia's growth would be 5.4 percent this year and 5 percent next year.

Meanwhile, global economic media Bloomberg released a release that Indonesia could reach 5.2 percent growth and continue at 5 percent in 2023.

“The Indonesian economy is considered to have strong resilience against the possibility of a global economic downturn. This is certainly something positive but we need to maintain it", she said.

Based on data released by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the Indonesian economy has indeed shown good performance since the beginning of the year.

In the first quarter, for example, gross domestic product rose 5.01 percent on an annual basis (year on year/YoY). The level then increased to 5.44 percent YoY in the second quarter of 2022.

The government itself through the Ministry of Finance has set a 2022 economic growth target to be above the 5 percent level. Meanwhile, the world economy is believed to only grow in the range of 2 percent for this year and next year.
