RI 77th Anniversary, Coordinating Minister Airlangga: Economy Grows Above 5 Percent, Trade Balance Surplus 27 Months

JAKARTA - The celebration of the 77th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia can be felt in various parts of Indonesia.

In the midst of various global crises and challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic, supply chain disruptions, food and energy crises, and climate change, the Indonesian economy was able to rise with growth of above 5 percent.

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto thanked all parties who have worked hard so far.

He said, the Coordinating Ministry's office has never closed or locked down, for 2.5 years implementing a work-from-office system to maintain the pulse of the economy.

"In the first half of this year, the Indonesian economy continued to grow above 5 percent and was accompanied by relatively good stability. The trade balance recorded a surplus of 27 consecutive months, vaccination achievements were among the world's top five," he said in an official statement, quoted on Sunday, 21 August.

Not only that, Airlangga said downstream nickel has also succeeded in increasing steel exports.

Then, Indonesia has also succeeded in being self-sufficient in rice since 2019, and managed to control inflation in the range of 4.9 percent.

"Indonesia is also trusted at the international level where we are the leader of the G20, the GCRG Champions Group, and next year will be the chairman of ASEAN," said Coordinating Minister Airlangga.

In commemoration of the 77th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia, Airlangga and the Minister of Finance who is also the Coordinating Minister for the Economy for the period June 2008-October 2009 Sri Mulyani Indrawati; Coordinating Minister for the Economy for the period October 2004-December 2005 Aburizal Bakrie, and Coordinating Minister for the Economy for the period June 2001-August 2001 Burhanuddin Abdullah Harahap officially opened a Mini Studio of the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy, named EkonIcon.

On that occasion, Airlangga also gave souvenirs as a form of appreciation to the Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani, Aburizal Bakrie, and Burhanuddin Abdullah Harahap as the predecessor of the Coordinating Minister for the Economy who had laid a strong foundation in building the office of the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy so that they could successfully overcome the challenges of every era.

"I hope that on the 77th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia, we can be more enthusiastic and with the 56th Anniversary of the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy, we are still ready to work hard for a better Indonesia," he said.
