JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan claims that Indonesia's government debt is the smallest in the world compared to other countries.

"The Indonesian government only has a debt of IDR 7,000 trillion and is the smallest in the world", said Luhut during the Ground Breaking for the construction of the Cileles - Panimbang toll road section in Pandeglang, Banten, as reported by Antara, Monday, August 8.

According to Luhut, Indonesia's government debt is only 40 percent of gross domestic product (GDP), while other developed countries are up to 100 percent of GDP.

"We ask gentlemen and friends in the regions not to listen to the strange and unclear talk because the government knows exactly what is being done", he explained.

He explained that the Indonesian government has a debt of IDR 7,000 trillion, but all of that debt is productive. This means that, like debt for the construction of toll roads, of course, the debt will be returned to the person providing the loan.

Therefore, do not let the project be deceived by false information and the government is smart and not stupid, said Luhut.

The development carried out by the government is certainly calculated correctly and correctly, including how the return on investment.

According to him, the construction of the 85 km Serang - Panimbang toll road will certainly improve the economy of the people of Banten. In addition, it also supports the acceleration of the development of Special Economic Zones (SEZ).

Currently, the construction of the 33 Km Cileles - Panimbang road section 3 can take advantage of loans from Chinese banks. The government targets the construction of the 3rd session of the toll road (Cileles-Panimbang) to be completed in 2024.

Therefore, Luhut asked Mulyadi Jayabaya as a Pandeglang figure to collaborate with the community on land acquisition.

Currently, he said, there is still a small portion of land that has not been acquired for the toll road construction project.

"We ask residents not to accept strange information and support the construction of toll roads to improve the economy of the people of Banten", he said.
