JAKARTA – The government, through the Minister of SOEs, Erick Thohir, said that the good performance of PT Bank Negara Indonesia Tbk. (BNI) cannot be separated from the figure of the company's main commissioner, Agus Martowardojo.

According to Erick, the issuer coded BBNI is getting ready to jump higher with the ability to collect the best profit in history with an achievement of IDR 8.8 trillion at the end of the first semester of 2022.

"This BNI commissioner is clear, there are representatives from other ministries. There are community representatives, professional representatives, and expert representatives. For example, there is Pak Agus Martowardojo, former Minister of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia, former Governor of BI. Alhamdulillah, I want to be the President Commissioner of BNI, who today can assist the management to work more optimally," he said in a press statement, Sunday, July 31.

Erick added that effective state-owned companies will certainly be increasingly encouraged, such as gender equality realized by SOEs in their leadership ranks. Portions and streamlining that are increasingly on target also create a more healthy, efficient and sustainable BUMN.

"So the important context is that we make a balance. For example, this is how SOE directors are currently 25 percent female, before they were not. Then, the leadership of SOEs under 42 years is 10 percent the target," he said.

He also did not forget to appreciate all levels of BNI management who have been fair to improve professionalism in SOEs in order to achieve the best performance.

"BNI will now achieve the best profit in history," said Erick.

On the same occasion, BNI President Director Royke Tumilaar said the company recorded very good results in the middle of this year. He said that business activity and public consumption were getting stronger, thus encouraging BNI's performance as an intermediary function.

"As the trend of economic recovery continues, and the transformation that we are carrying out has begun to show results, we also hope that this year's profit will be able to penetrate the highest profit record in BNI's history," concluded Royke.
