KUPANG - Minister of Trade Zulkifli Hasan (Zulhas) visited Kupang City, East Nusa Tenggara, Saturday, July 30.

Zulhas came to review the supply and prices of basic commodities at Kasih Market, Kota Raja District.

In the monitoring, Zulhas accompanied by a number of ministry officials arrived at Pasar Kasih at around 07.00 WITA.

Upon arrival, Zulhas immediately visited a number of traders who sell cooking oil, chicken, beef, lombok, and onions to shop for their products and discuss the price and supply conditions for these foodstuffs.

A number of food commodities that he bought in varying quantities were directly distributed to the community or local market visitors.

Zulhas said the price of basic needs in the local market was relatively stable, although there were food items that experienced a slight increase in prices.

"The price of red chili here is IDR 80,000 per kilogram, slightly more expensive than in Java, IDR 70,000 per kilogram, but it has fallen far from before," Zulhas said, as quoted by ANTARA, Saturday.

Meanwhile, the price of other commodities, such as cooking oil, is already normal at Rp. 15,000 per liter, while the price of onions is also stable because it has been harvested so that the supply is adequate.

Likewise, the price of rice and various other foodstuffs did not change.

Zulhas hopes that the availability of basic commodities in NTT will still be sufficient to meet the needs of the people in the island-based province.

"Hopefully there will be stocks of basic commodities and affordable prices," he said.
