JAKARTA - PT Sariguna Primatirta Tbk (CLEO) managed to record a sales increase of 24 percent yoy, to IDR 655.06 billion in the first semester of 2022. With the sale proceeds, the Cleo drinking water producer owned by conglomerate Hermanto Tanoko posted a net profit of IDR 102.88 billion, up 12 percent from IDR 91.76 billion in the same period the previous year.

The Company's cost of goods sold increased 31 percent to IDR 392.41 billion, compared to IDR 300.27 billion in the same period the previous year. The increase in expenses, which was higher than the increase in sales or the increase in net profit, was a consequence of the increase in the price of packaging materials and a change in the composition of sales.

In terms of sales composition, there was an increase in sales in the category of products that contain higher material costs, namely products with small packages.

To deal with the increase in the price of packaging materials, the Company has increased the use of packaging made from recycled or known as r-PET for several products.

Meanwhile, related to business expansion activities, the company is currently building three new factories in Balikpapan, Palangkaraya and Palembang. With the construction of the three new factories, the company's number of bottled drinking water (AMDK) factories which currently have 27 factories will increase to 30 factories, spread across Java, Sumatra, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Bali, East Nusa Tenggara, West Nusa Tenggara and Papuans.

“We are still opening new factories, because it is important for bottled water companies to have factories close to consumers. Due to the heavy and space-consuming nature of water, distribution costs are expensive. Therefore, we must get closer to consumers to reduce distribution costs," said Sariguna Deputy President Director Melisa Patricia in a statement, Friday, July 29.

Furthermore, to continue to increase customer trust, the company is committed to producing quality and environmentally friendly bottled drinking water (AMDK). As a manifestation of this commitment, since its inception, Sariguna has been using Gallons made from BPA (Bisphenol-A) free materials so that the purity and health of the water in it is guaranteed.

As reported by various mass media, the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) in its findings revealed that BPA content above the specified threshold can have an impact on the health of toddlers and fertility disorders in adults.
