His Deputy Remains In The OJK Ex-Officio Position, Sri Mulyani Asks To Strengthen Coordination

JAKARTA – The Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) is known to have the authority to place representatives or envoys to become members of other institutions as part of policy alignment. Such schemes are often referred to as Ex-Officio.

In the inauguration of the Board of Commissioners of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) for the period 2022-2027, the state treasury institution chose Deputy Minister (Wamenkeu) Suahasil Nazara as an ex-officio member of the Ministry of Finance.

Meanwhile, Suahasil himself was noted to have held this mandate since the 2017-2022 period. This means that this is the second time he has been elected to represent the government in the authorities.

In a written statement today, Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani expressed her hopes for her deputy.

"Members of the OJK Board of Commissioners for the 2022-2027 ex-officio term of the Ministry of Finance can strengthen coordination between the fiscal authorities and the financial sector authorities and monetary authorities," he said on Wednesday, July 20.

According to the Minister of Finance, a series of efforts need to be made considering that OJK has a very strategic role in the financial sector in the country.

"So that it can maintain financial system stability and encourage economic growth," he continued.

The Minister of Finance added that the Deputy Minister of Finance, Suahasil Nazara, was the only remaining member of the previous period's management. Because, as many as seven members of the DK OJK are new names. Meanwhile, one Ex-Officio member from Bank Indonesia (BI) has changed from previously Dody Budi Waluyo to Doni Primanto Joewono.

"Members of the Ex-Officio Board of Commissioners of the Ministry of Finance must be a catalyst for the establishment of a cohesive and solid OJK collegial collective leadership to jointly build institutions into high-performing institutions," said the Minister of Finance.

For information, the members of the OJK Board of Commissioners for the term of 2022-2027 were determined through Presidential Decree No. 51/P of 2022 dated May 9, 2022. Meanwhile, Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani herself is the Chair of the Selection Committee (Pansel) for the Selection of Candidates for the OJK Board of Commissioners some time ago.
