Boosting Export Performance, Customs And Excise Provide A Number Of Special Facilities For Business Actors

JAKARTA - The Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DJBC) of the Ministry of Finance is said to provide a number of certain facilities to business actors as part of fiscal incentives to strengthen national export performance.

Director of Customs Facilities DJBC Ministry of Finance Untung Basuki said the facilities provided were in the form of Bonded Zone Facilities, Import Facility for Export Purposes (KITE), and Special Economic Zone Facilities (KEK).

"All of this is an effort to encourage processing or manufacturing companies to export because there is an obligation. If they go to the local area, they are allowed, but they are limited to a maximum of 50 percent of their exports," he said in an official statement quoted on Tuesday, July 5.

According to Untung, the types of industries that receive this special treatment include textiles, horticulture, automotive, and the refinery sector of crude palm oil (CPO).

Meanwhile, the KITE facilities are divided into three. First, the Exemption KITE, namely the exemption of import duty and Import VAT is not collected on the import of raw materials to be processed, assembled, installed, and their products exported.

Second, the Returning KITE is a facility for returning import duties on imported raw materials to be processed, assembled, installed, and their products exported.

Third, KITE IKM is a facility provided for IKM that performs processing, assembling, or installing raw materials whose production is for export purposes.

"Furthermore, to maximize industrial, export, and economic activities in the SEZ, business actors receive customs facilities, both in the form of incentives and procedural," he said.

Untung added that through the ratification of the Job Creation Act, DJBC also improved regulations, especially those related to SEZs and free trade zones to maintain the good value of Indonesia's exports.

"These SEZ companies are spread throughout Indonesia. There are various types, including tourism such as in Mandalika, then there is a manufacturing industry such as in Kendal. In the future, there will be several SEZ themes, for example education and health SEZs," he explained.

For information, until 2022 there were 1.393 companies that received facilities in the Bonded Zone and 471 companies that received KITE facilities.

From the number of recipients of the KITE facility, there are 113 companies that have received the KITE IKM facility. This number increased significantly from the previous number of 74 in 2019.

"This shows the great commitment of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise to foster export-oriented SMEs," concluded Untung.
