Flying To Yogyakarta, Sri Mulyani Leads The G20 Agenda To Shape World Health Architecture

JAKARTA - The Minister of Finance, Sri Mulyani, today is known to have visited Yogyakarta to attend one of a series of G20 Joint Finance and Health Ministerial Meeting (JFHMM) meetings.

In his statement, the Minister of Finance revealed that this agenda involved all Ministers of Finance and Ministers of Health of G20 member countries, both physically present or hybrid through virtual channels.

"The JFHMM event highlights one of the issues that will be the main discussion of the Indonesian G20 Presidency this year, which is related to the world health architecture", she said in a written statement on Tuesday, June 21.

According to the state treasurer, through this G20 forum, Indonesia is leading the discussions on global consensus in strengthening the world health architecture.

"We are all aware that cooperation is the key to navigating the pandemic and the various challenges that the world is currently facing", she said.

For this reason, the Minister of Finance considers that it is necessary to pursue a real strategic step to manage the risks that will be faced in the future.

"One of them is the harmonization between the health and financial sectors through a multilateral financing mechanism to improve the pandemic prevention, preparedness, and prevention (PPR) of countries in the world", she said.

She also explained that all the discussions that took place during the JFHMM could bring a bright spot for the restoration of health and the world economy.

The editor noted that G20 state finance leaders agreed to form a Joint Task Force of the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Health of G20 countries which are expected to be able to build inclusive financing facilities.

Meanwhile, the establishment of a joint finance health task force was based on the world's unpreparedness to face the COVID-19 pandemic, which has cost up to 12 trillion US dollars and 5 million people died.

Therefore, the finance ministers and health ministers under the G20 also agreed to build a mechanism called pandemic preparedness. The G20 countries also agreed that 70 percent of the world's population should be vaccinated by mid-2022.
