PLN Will Supply Environmentally Friendly Electricity For The Jakarta Formula E Race

JAKARTA - PT PLN has stated its readiness to supply environmentally friendly electricity, free of air and noise pollution to support the success of the Formula E electric car racing event in Jakarta.

General Manager of the PLN Main Distribution Unit for Greater Jakarta, Doddy B Pangaribuan, said that the electric power needed in the electric car racing event was 7 mega volt amperes.

“Through REC, PLN ensures that the energy used comes from renewable energy (EBT) based power plants audited by an international tracking system, APX TIGRs, located in California, United States. That way, Formula E organizers can prove their existence in contributing to reducing carbon emissions by using energy from renewable energy plants in Indonesia," said Doddy to reporters, Tuesday, May 17.

Doddy explained that the total investment to meet Formula E's electricity needs was IDR 7 billion.

To support this international event, PLN has prepared a medium-voltage cable channel that has been stretched along 6.8 kilometers squared.

The construction of the substation has reached 80 percent and is planned to be completed 100 percent on May 25, 2022.

In addition to REC, he said, his party is ready to support the reliability of electricity supply during the implementation of Formula E by preparing a layered power supply with backup and UPS backup.

This is in line with the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government program, namely Langit Biru to support the creation of clean air in Jakarta.

"We are ready to support the implementation of Formula E with environmentally friendly energy, free of pollution and noise from renewable energy products," concluded Doddy.
