7.6 Million People Are Predicted To Use The Train Mode For The 2022 Eid Homecoming

JAKARTA - The Research and Development Agency of the Ministry of Transportation predicts that the volume of train passengers will reach 7.6 million people during the 2022 Eid al-Fitr homecoming period.

Director-General of Railways at the Ministry of Transportation, Zulfikri, when inspecting the first operation of the Pangrango Bogor-Sukabumi train at Paledang Station, West Java, Sunday, April 11, said PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) had set the Lebaran transportation period from D-10 to D+10 Lebaran or April 22. until May 13, 2022.

"We have coordinated with PT KAI's friends to prepare the fleet and we have prepared approximately 8 million for this," he said, as reported by Antara.

Zukfikri appealed to the public to anticipate the density of Lebaran homecoming by rail transportation, including the Bogor-Sukabumi route, by departing early.

Anticipation should be considered so that when PT KAI has not been able to prepare additional train fleets during the Lebaran homecoming moment, passengers will be in their hometowns safely and comfortably.

In addition, said Zukfikri, the moment of Lebaran 2022 is quite long so it should be planned well by the community.

"I urge the public if there is no (addition to the train fleet), because the number of trips per day is definitely limited to the maximum. If on certain days it is full, it may be possible to travel before D-10 to D+10 and vice versa "Because the holiday is now extended, it's a joint leave," he explained.

Meanwhile, the operation of the Pangrango train in the first phase, which began on Sunday (10/4), is still carried out on one line with an increase in speed and the number of trains from five to eight. The route from Bogor to Sukabumi now only takes 120 minutes or 2 hours.

The Ministry of Transportation targets that 96 percent of the double-track work will be completed by the end of April 2022, so that in early May 2022 the operation of the Pangrango train can be carried out on two lines at once for Bogor-Sukabumi. This will save more time from 120 minutes to 80 minutes from Paledang Station in Bogor to Cicurug Station, Sukabumi, West Java.

Previously, the government set a national holiday for Eid al-Fitr 1433 Hijri on May 2-3, 2022, while collective leave fell on April 29, 4, 5, and May 6, 2022.

President Joko Widodo said it was estimated that around 85 million people would go home for the 2022 Eid holiday.

Homecomers from Jabodetabek (Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi) is estimated at around 14 million people and those who use private vehicles are estimated at 47 percent.
