JAKARTA - PT Pertamina (Persero) has officially adjusted the price of fuel oil (BBM) for RON 92 or Pertamax type fuel. Effective from April 1, starting at 00:00 local time, Non-Subsidized Gasoline RON 92 (Pertamax) has been adjusted to IDR12,500 per liter (for regions with a 5 percent motor vehicle fuel tax/PBBKB), from the previous price of IDR 9 .000 per liter.

In an official statement on Pertamina's website, Pertamax fuel in the Provinces of Bali and Nusa Tenggara is set at IDR 12,500, while pertalite fuel does not increase and remains at IDR 7,650.

For the islands of Kalimantan and Sulawesi, the price of Pertamax is set at IDR 12,750.

Acting Corporate Secretary of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, SH C&T PT Pertamina (Persero) Irto Ginting, said that this price is still below its economic value.

"Pertamina always considers people's purchasing power, the price of Pertamax remains more competitive in the market or compared to similar fuel prices from other gas station operators. This has only been done in the last three years, since 2019," said Irto Ginting, Thursday, March 31.

Thus, the adjustment of Pertamax's price to IDR 12,500 per liter is still IDR 3,500 lower than its economic value.

"We do this so as not to burden the community too much," said Irto.

Irto also appealed to the public to continue to choose non-subsidized fuel which is of higher quality.

"The new price is still affordable, especially for the wealthy. We also invite people to be more efficient by using fuel as needed," concluded Irto.

Previously, the Head of the Bureau of Communication, Public Information Services and Cooperation of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Agung Pribadi, in his written statement, stated in a written statement that considering the March oil price which was much higher than February, the economic price or the upper limit of general fuel RON 92 in April would be even higher than that of February, then the economic price or the upper limit of general RON 92 fuel in April will be even higher than IDR 14,526 per liter, it could be around IDR 16,000 per liter.

The geopolitical crisis that continues to develop to date has caused world oil prices to soar above 100 US dollars per barrel. This also pushed the price of Indonesian crude oil or Indonesia Crude Price (ICP) as of March 24, which was recorded at 114.55 US dollars per barrel or soared to more than 56 percent from the December 2021 period which was 73.36 US dollars per barrel.
