JAKARTA - PT PLN (Persero) signed increased cooperation or Side Letter with PT Semen Tonasa. This agreement increases incentives for the Incentive Captive Acquisition program or the acquisition of electricity costs for PT Semen Tonasa with a commitment of 240 million kiloWatt hour (kWh).

This agreement was made after seeing the success of the Incentive Captive Acquisition program in the first year. The trend in electricity consumption in the first year exceeded the target, which was 359 million kWh from the commitment of 190 million kWh. This program will run from April 1, 2022, to March 31, 2023.

PLN Regional Business Director for Sulawesi, Maluku, Papua, and Nusa Tenggara (Sulmapana), Adi Priyanto, said that this step was a continuation of the cooperation between PLN and Semen Tonasa in the Incentive Captive Acquisition program or the acquisition of electricity loads since March 2021.

Through this service, customers who have captive power to meet their electricity needs can switch to getting a full electricity supply through PLN.

"This increased collaboration between PLN and Semen Tonasa is proof of the excellent service quality from PLN for industrial customers throughout Indonesia," he said.

To improve the reliability of Semen Tonasa's electricity supply, PLN has completed the work on Uprating Inter Bus Transformer (IBT) #2 and IBT #3 150/70 kilo Volt (kV). PLN also added a 60 Mega Volt Ampere (MVA) transformer at the Pangkep Substation which was energized on March 26, 2022.

"Seeing the trend of usage that exceeds the target, the cooperation that has been carried out has produced positive things for both parties. Therefore we are committed to providing the best service to customers," said Adi.

With a commitment to absorb 240 million kWh in the second year, Adi hopes that Semen Tonasa can focus more on running its main business, namely producing cement, without the need to think about power plant operations.

Adi explained that the electricity condition in the Southern Sulawesi System currently has a capacity of 2.500 MW, with a power reserve of 503.26 MW.

In accordance with the RUPTL 2021 - 2030, PLN will add a generating capacity of 3.698 MW. Furthermore, to distribute this electrical power, 7.052 kms of High Voltage Air Ducts (SUTT) will also be built with 4.702 MVA Substations spread throughout Sulawesi.

"PLN as a company engaged in the electricity sector is ready to meet the needs of electrical energy to support the economy in Indonesia," he added.

On the other hand, the Director of Business Strategy and Business Development of the Semen Indonesia Group, Aulia Mulki Oemar, expressed his gratitude for the certainty of the services provided by PLN, good communication, and the electricity supply provided by PLN.

According to him, this moment is a historic day for Semen Indonesia Group by continuing the collaboration which has proven to be very beneficial for both parties.

"The increase in productivity is due to the better supply of electrical energy for this program. Therefore, we from the Semen Indonesia Group say thank you very much to PLN, so that our production never stops," said Aulia.

Therefore, Aulia added, Semen Indonesia Group will explore cooperation with production facilities in other areas together with PLN.
