Governor Khofifah: I Ask Distributors To Really Distribute Cooking Oil

SURABAYA - East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa asked for the commitment of all distributors in the local area to distribute cooking oil in order to meet market demand which is still high.

"I asked the cooking oil distributors in East Java to actually distribute cooking oil to markets in East Java," he said in Surabaya, as reported by Antara, Sunday, March 27.

According to the number one person in the East Java Provincial Government, currently there is still an empty space between producers, distributors and consumers.

He conveyed that with the production of 250 tons of bulk cooking oil per day, and if other factories did the same, there should be no vacancies and the cooking oil supply chain should not be interrupted.

From his visit to the PT Smart Tbk Rungkut factory, said Khofifah, it was explained that the bulk cooking oil production was 250 tons per day, and was even seeking permission to increase its production.

"The cause of the scarcity of cooking oil must be immediately found a solution. The way is by jointly committed between producers and distributors to be able to meet market demand," he said.

Moreover, he continued, the month of Ramadan will soon be entering and it is certain that the demand for cooking oil will increase. The former Minister of Social Affairs requested the wisdom of all parties who are still holding back the supply of cooking oil to be immediately released to the market.

"Soon Ramadan, of course the need for this oil will increase. Let's take care of the psychology of the community so that people are more calm and solemnly carry out fasting," he said.

Governor Khofifah has taken to the field several times to ensure cooking oil stocks, including monitoring prices on the market.

Finally, on Saturday, March 26, Khofifah accompanied the National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, to check the availability of food and the application of the highest retail price for bulk cooking oil at the Darmo Trade Center (DTC) Market in Wonokromo, Surabaya.

In addition, the Governor together with the National Police Chief and Forkopimda East Java also reviewed PT Smart Tbk Rungkut Surabaya, which is one of the cooking oil factories.
