JAKARTA - The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Arifin Tasrif, stated that the existence of the Inter-Ministerial/Institutional Mineral and Coal Information System (SIMBARA) can be relied on to curb illegal mineral and coal trade (minerba).

"With SIMBARA, it is possible to control the illegal mineral and coal trade by business actors, both producers and intermediary traders, which results in leakage of state revenues," said Arifin, at the launch of SIMBARA by the Ministry of Finance, in Jakarta, as reported by Antara, Tuesday, March 8.

According to Arifin, the illegal mineral and coal trade has proven to be detrimental to the state because a lot of revenue has been lost, so it is hoped that SIMBARA can boost state revenues. Arifin also hopes that good coordination from all parties will be able to realize the effectiveness and optimization of state revenues through the SIMBARA system.

In addition, the existence of SIMBARA can also encourage supervision of Domestic Market Obligation (DMO) policies. "With SIMBARA, the supervision and compliance with DMO by business entities can be carried out more optimally," said Arifin.

He added that through the development of this system, the Online Single Submission (OSS) facility for mineral and coal is also encouraged to be faster and more accountable. "Through the development of an integrated information system, it can support improved management, recording and reporting that are more accountable and reliable," said Arifin.

SIMBARA is a non-tax state revenue (PNBP) monitoring application system and coal mineral trading system. This application records the entire series of mineral and coal management processes starting from upstream to downstream, namely the planning, mining, processing, and refining processes.

Not only that, SIMBARA also records the sale of mineral and coal commodities as well as the fulfillment of obligations for payment of state revenues and clearance from ports. SIMBARA development is carried out by several ministries/agencies such as the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Trade, the Ministry of Transportation, and Bank Indonesia.

"SIMBARA is here to support the synergy of business processes and the flow of mineral and coal data between ministries and institutions," said Arifin.
