JAKARTA - Governor of Bank Indonesia (BI) Perry Warjiyo hopes that more micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) will use the Quick Response Indonesia Standard (QRIS).
"Last year we digitized 14 million merchants, mostly MSMEs. This year we will add 15 million QRIS users, and we will connect QRIS with Malaysia, Thailand and other countries," Perry said, quoted by Antara, Thursday, February 24.
BI continues to encourage the expansion of MSME digitization as part of efforts to empower MSMEs, in addition to conducting clustering, entrepreneurship training, and facilitating MSME access to banking.
Furthermore, BI will attract more MSMEs to participate in the activities of the Proudly Made in Indonesia National Movement with a better and digitized curation process.
BI will also continue to encourage MSMEs to do business matching with business men in export destination countries so that MSME products can be exported abroad.
"Furthermore, we carried out socialization to generation Z and millennials to get involved in the MSME movement to 10 thousand young people as an effort to build the character of love for local products belonging to MSMEs," said Perry Warjiyo.
BI hopes for support from all Ministries and Institutions (K/L) of the central and regional governments to be able to continue to improve the performance of MSMEs and encourage their contribution to the economy.
"We expect synergy from all ministries and institutions, as well as from local governments, including in South Sulawesi, to become the center of eastern Indonesia," he said.
