Continue Synergy With PBNU, Erick Thohir: Islamic Boarding School Must Be A Beacon Of Civilization

JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir said SOEs have been collaborating with PBNU in improving facilities such as offices or universities. BUMN is also committed to continuing the synergy with PBNU, especially in improving the quality of facilities and empowering Islamic boarding schools (ponpes).

This was conveyed by Erick Thohir when he met the General Chairperson of the Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) Executive Board, Yahya Cholil Staquf at the PBNU office in Jakarta, Thursday, January 6.

Erick said that Islamic boarding schools should be a beacon of civilization. Therefore, Erick emphasized that he would participate in improving Islamic boarding schools through the Muslimpreneur program.

"The most important thing going forward is how the program that we are trying to link Islamic boarding schools to become a beacon of civilization and the improvement of Muslimpreneurs is an important part too. This is what we will sit down together again in the future," he said in a written statement, quoted Friday, January 7th.

For your information, previously Erick has also realized programs for students and Islamic boarding schools. For example, the Santri Internship program at BUMN, aims to provide students with work experience in state institutions.

Then, Erick also runs the 2,000 Pertashop program in collaboration with Islamic boarding schools, as a form of commitment to building a pesantren-based community economy. Where pertashop financing in the pesantren ecosystem is supported by PT Bank Syariah Indonesia Tbk (BSI).

On the same occasion, General Chairperson of PBNU Yahya Cholil Staquf said that the cooperation between PBNU and BUMN is part of encouraging the improvement of the quality of human resources and building economic independence in Islamic boarding schools.

"We've already talked about these things, it's just a matter of continuing," said Yahya.
