Appointed As Main Commissioner of PTPN III, Zulkifli Zaini: I Hope I Can Give The Best Contribution

JAKARTA - Former President Director of PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (Persero) or PLN Zulkifli Zaini was appointed by the Minister of SOEs Erick Thohir to be the main commissioner (komut) as well as independent PT Perkebunan Nusantara III (Persero).

The appointment is stated in the Decree (SK) Number SK-398/MBU/10/2021 and Number SK-399/MBU/10/2021 dated December 10, 2021 regarding the Appointment of the President Commissioner and the Appointment of the Board of Commissioners of PT Perkebunan Nusantara III (Persero).

Zulkifli Zaini as the new President Commissioner and Independent Commissioner said thank you for the trust given to him by the shareholders.

"Hopefully I can carry out this mandate and can make the best contribution to stakeholders and also the Indonesian nation and state, I also ask for support from all parties in carrying out my duties at PTPN III (Persero)," he said in a written statement received VOI, Friday, December 10.

Previously, Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir removed Zulkifli Zaini from the position of President Director of PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (Persero) or PLN. Instead, Erick also appointed Darmawan Prasodjo.

Erick Thohir dismissed Zulkifli, because he was considered to have been able to improve the financial performance of the national stun company. This is reflected in operating revenues which reached IDR 345.4 trillion and a net profit of IDR 5.99 trillion in 2020.

This profit rose 39.3 percent from 2019. PLN under the leadership of Zulkifli also managed to reduce the total debt ratio by around IDR 452.4 trillion. Not to forget, PLN also contributes to the National Economic Recovery (PLN) program by providing electricity discounts to 31.4 million households in 2020 and 32.6 million households in 2021.

"I thank you profusely for the commitments that have been given so far. I believe the best track record that has been inscribed will become a legacy and foundation for the next leader," he said in an official statement, Monday, December 6.

Erick added that under Zulkifli's leadership, transformative efforts were also carried out in parallel as one of the guards in the National Economic Recovery Program during the COVID-19 pandemic. Because of that, Erick also advised Darmawan Prasodjo as the new President Director of PLN, to continue the transformation efforts that have been made to continue to be improved.

"The energy transition carried out by PLN needs a breakthrough so that it does not burden the state and society," he said.

The challenges of PLN's future transformation are not only limited to improving PLN's finances but also how to face the challenges of an era where greener energy, digitalization, service to the community, and the application of "eco-lifestyle" are the main needs in order to create a sustainable environment for current and future generations.

"PLN needs to prepare itself to accelerate business in the face of new trends such as the electric vehicle ecosystem and collaborate on electrifying lifestyles with other parties," he explained.
