Regarding BLBI Case, HMS Asks The Government Not To Just Focus On Rp110 Trillion: There Is Potential For State Losses Of Up To Rp1,000 Trillion

JAKARTA - The Movement for Turning on the Prosperous Society (HMS) fully supports the government's efforts to resolve the mega scandal of the Bank Indonesia Liquidity Assistance (BLBI) corruption case. One form of support is the encouragement that the BLBI Task Force which was formed through Presidential Decree of the Republic of Indonesia (Keppres) Number 6 of 2021 is more proactive in pursuing assets belonging to these BLBI obligors.

"Alhamdulillah, in the era of President Joko Widodo, the BLBI cases that emerged and went down were even said to have been closed and reopened. We appreciate the government's very serious attitude in resolving the BLBI scandal," said Secretary-General of HMS, Hardjuno Wiwoho during a Working Meeting (Raker) on Completion Handling the BLBI case with the State Economic and Financial Research Institute (LPEKN) and DPD RI at the DPD RI Building, Senayan Jakarta, Thursday 9 December.

Present at this working meeting, the Director-General of State Assets as Chair of the BLBI Task Force along with the Task Force Team, Ronald Silaban, Chairman of Committee I, Fachrul Razi, Chairman of Committee IV, Sukiryanto, members of Committee IV, Amirul Tamim and Darmansyah Husain and Chairman of LPEKN, Sasmito Hadinagoro.

The government of President Joko Widodo is very serious in making efforts to resolve collection rights on BLBI funds by establishing a Task Force for the Handling of State Collection Rights for BLBI Funds. This is in accordance with the Presidential Decree of the Republic of Indonesia (Keppres) Number 6 of 2021.

"As an element of civil society, we encourage the BLBI Task Force to be more serious. We support the government's seriousness in resolving this BLBI case," he explained.

Hardjuno hopes that the BLBI Task Force has a structured work plan. This is important so that the target set is achieved.

Moreover, the term of duty of the BLBI Task Force is limited by time. Based on Article 12 of this Presidential Decree 61, it is stated that the Task Force for Handling State Collection Rights for the Liquidity Assistance Fund of Bank Indonesia has been in charge since this Presidential Decree was enacted until December 31, 2023.

"So, don't let this Presidential Decree not be utilized optimally in accordance with President Joko Widodo's orders," he said.

Hardjuno admitted that during the time of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), the BLBI case was revealed to the public. However, he said, the ending is not clear.

"10 years of SBY's administration, the process of the BLBI case is not clear or just evaporates," he explained.

Until finally, in the era of President Jokowi, the BLBI case was seriously resolved. In fact, the only president who is serious about resolving this scandal is President Jokowi through the formation of the BLBI Task Force.

"This is a policy that should be appreciated together," he said.

However, he hopes that the BLBI Task Force will not only pursue Rp110 trillion in cash. This is because the potential loss to the state from the BLBI scandal reaches Rp1,000 trillion.

Hardjuno proposes that the settlement of the BLBI scandal is not only through the civil route. If there are indications of a criminal act, they must be processed according to the criminal law.

"And this has been agreed upon by Committee I, Committee IV DPD RI," he explained.

Furthermore, Hardjuno also encouraged DPD RI to form this BLBI Gate Special Committee.

"Let the matter be clear," he concluded.
