JAKARTA - Entrepreneurs welcome the government's policy of canceling the implementation of PPKM level 3 during the Christmas and New Year's 2022 holidays. Cancellation is believed to be able to increase economic productivity at the end of the year.

Deputy General Chairperson of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry for Regional Autonomy Development Sarman Simanjorang said the year-end holidays could be a momentum to increase household consumption. Thus, it can contribute to national economic growth in the fourth quarter, which is targeted in the range of 5.5 to 6 percent.

"Of course with this cancellation it is very possible that the target will be achieved. It is even possible to exceed the target in the range of 6.5 to 7 percent considering that the Consumer Confidence Index in October 2021 has returned to an optimistic level of 113.4," he said in a written statement. , quoted Wednesday, December 8th.

Furthermore, Sarman said he was optimistic that the national economic growth in 2021, which was targeted in the range of 3.7 to 4.5 percent, had a chance to be achieved.

According to Sarman, the cancellation of PPKM level 3 can increase economic productivity. For the record, the policy will initially take effect on December 24, 2021, until January 2, 2022.

"This cancellation will be able to increase economic productivity. Various business sectors such as shopping centers or malls, hotels, restaurants, cafes, entertainment and tourism centers, transportation, various MSMEs have the opportunity to increase their turnover to strengthen cash flow amid uncertainty due to the COVID-19 pandemic, " he said.

The General Chair of the DKI Jakarta HIPPI DPD also invited all business actors so that this government policy must be maintained together by implementing strict health protocols (prokes) in their respective places of business.

"We must fight together so that there is no third wave in 2022, especially the emergence of a new variant of Omicron. We fully support the various protection measures taken by the government so that the Omicron variant does not enter Indonesia," he said.

According to Sarman, the economic recovery process, which has been going well, must be maintained together so that the economic passion in 2022 will be more productive leading to quality economic growth.
