Commission VI DPR RI Supports Debt Restructuring To Barata Indonesia's Human Resources

JAKARTA - Commission VI of the DPR RI provides support for the debt restructuring process of PT Barata Indonesia (Persero). Currently, the restructuring is being carried out by PT PPA (Persero). However, not only debt restructuring, Commission VI also wants a restructuring of human resources (HR).

For your information, since September 2021, PPA has been carrying out debt restructuring for Barata Indonesia together with 20 other state-owned companies. Meanwhile, the PPA step is a mandate from the Minister of SOEs, Erick Thohir.

During a visit to PT Barata Indonesia (Persero), the chairman of Commission VI Mohamad Hekal said that debt restructuring must be carried out so that the company can become the leader of the national manufacturing industry.

"With the facilities it has, Barata Indonesia should be a leader in the national manufacturing industry. We support the restructuring that is being carried out, but also not only from the company's business perspective, restructuring in the HR sector also needs to be done," he said in a written statement received by VOI, quoted by VOI. Furthermore, Haekal said that the rescue of the debt was considered crucial to make Barata Indonesia a company capable of competitiveness and having a positive contribution to the national economy.

Not only holding a restructuring discussion meeting, Commission VI of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia also released the export of railroad components, bogies carried out by the company. This time Barata Indonesia exported to Houston, United States.

This is not the first time that the visit of members of the DPR RI has been done this year. Previously, Commission VII of the DPR RI also visited the Barata Indonesia head office to provide support for increasing local content in national strategic projects as an effort to substitute imported products and build industrial independence.

Meanwhile, the President Director of Barata Indonesia, Bobby Sumardiat Atmosudirjo, appreciated the support from the Indonesian House of Representatives.

"This support is a form of attention from the government in advancing the country's manufacturing industry," he said.
