Serang-Panimbang Toll Road Sections 2 And 3 Built Early In 2022

JAKARTA - PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk. revealed that the construction of the Serang-Panimbang Toll Road Section 2 Rangkasbitung-Cileles will begin simultaneously with the construction of Section 3, namely Cileles-Panimbang in early 2022.

"Section 3 itself is part of the government's portion, which is planned to start construction at the beginning of the year (next), so Section 2, which is part of our consortium, will start working together," said WIKA President Director Agung Budi Waskito in Mandalika, Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), as quoted by Antara, Sunday, November 21.

Agung said that in two years the construction is expected to be completed, so that by early 2024 the Serang-Panimbang toll road will be fully connected and start operating.

Thus, people who want to go to the Tanjung Lesung tourist area, which currently takes 5-6 hours, will only take 2 hours if the Serang-Panimbang Toll Road is fully connected.

"The presence of the Serang-Panimbang Toll Road will boost the economy in the Tanjung Lesung area and its surroundings," said Agung.

Agung said when he accompanied Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) in the inauguration of the Serang-Panimbang Section 1 Serang-Rangkasbitung Toll Road, the President of the Republic of Indonesia was quite satisfied with the construction of the toll road which was considered good.

The Serang-Panimbang Toll Road has a length of 83.67 Km in which the portion of the construction is divided into two, namely the consortium portion and the government portion.

The consortium portion carries out the construction of the Serang-Panimbang Toll Road Section 1 Serang-Rangkasbitung along 26.5 km and Section 2 Rangkasbitung-Cileles along 24.1 km.

Meanwhile, the government's portion includes the construction of the Serang-Panimbang Section 3 Cileles-Panimbang Toll Road along 33 km.

Currently, the Serang-Panimbang Toll Road that has been completed and operated is Section 1 Serang-Rangkasbitung. Meanwhile, Section 2 Rangkasbitung-Cileles and Section 3 Cileles-Panimbang are targeted to operate in the first quarter of 2024.

Previously, President Joko Widodo inaugurated the Serang-Panimbang Section I toll road for the Serang-Rangkasbitung section of 26.5 kilometers.

President Jokowi said that the Serang-Panimbang toll road section I of the Serang-Rangkasbitung section has been completed and is ready to operate. Then later it will be continued with section 2, namely Rangkasbitung-Cileles along 24 kilometers and Cileles-Panimbang along 33 kilometers which will be completed by the end of 2023.

The toll road as one of the infrastructures built by the government can be the foundation for Indonesia to compete with other countries.

With the presence of infrastructure, according to President Jokowi, Indonesian manufactured goods can be better distributed and eventually become cheaper. In addition, infrastructure will also create points of economic growth, including in Banten, which will be more easily distributed.
