Sorong - Pertalite type of fuel oil (BBM) in the city of Sorong, West Papua Province, from the night of Friday 5 November until the morning of Saturday 6 November at the retail level of IDR 30,000 per liter.

The increase in fuel prices by illegal retailers on the streets of Sorong City is due to the scarcity at gas stations since Friday, November 5, 2021.

Antara observed on Jenderal Sudirman Street, Sorong City, Saturday morning, fuel retailers along the road were selling Pertalite for IDR 30,000 per liter.

Samsul, a fuel retailer on Jenderal Sudirman Street, Sorong city, said that this was an opportunity to make more profit because all gas stations were empty on Friday, November 5th.

He admitted that he had received Pertalite from gas stations since Friday, November 5 in the morning, and by noon the fuel stock at the gas station was empty, so there was an opportunity to raise prices for more profit.

Unit Manager Communication, Relations and CSR Papua Maluku Regional PT Pertamina Sub Holding Commercial Trading, Edi Mangun, when confirmed said that the fuel stock at the Sorong City gas station had returned to normal serving the community.

He explained that the fuel shortage in Sorong on Friday, November 5 was due to the rotation of Pertamina's fuel tankers for Papua, West Papua, Maluku, due to bad weather.

According to him, the movement of ships from one point to another is constrained by weather, causing delays in distribution. Therefore, the team at the refueling terminal takes stock control.

Yesterday afternoon, officers at the Jayapura, Wayame, and Sorong fuel filling terminals as well as other depots had coordinated so that the situation of scarcity that occurred could return to normal. "We apologize for the scarcity of fuel in the Sorong area", he said

Edi added that the authority to take action and legal process for the perpetrators during the Fuel month is the authority of the Police and other law enforcers by the Oil and Gas Law.
