Win Don't Be Euphoric, Lose Don't Be Sad Because Indonesia Is Not A Nation That Likes To Split

"Let's be calm, we are waiting for official votes from the KPU, we will maintain calm, we are wary of countries like us, countries as big as us, countries as rich as we are always accompanied by the strength of other countries," said Prabowo Subianto in a speech at Istora Senayan, Wednesday (14/2/2024).

The speech was delivered by Prabowo after the results of the quick count or quick count of various survey institutions showed that the presidential candidate number two was superior. Prabowo and his presidential candidate, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, immediately left Kertanegara and headed for Istora Senayan after the quick count results entered 90 percent and stated the superiority of the pair from the Advanced Indonesia Coalition.

However, Prabowo Subianto emphasized that the quick count victory was the victory of all Indonesian people. He asked his supporters not to be euphoric, let alone arrogant.

"I and Mas Gibran advised to convey that even though we are grateful, we must not be arrogant, we must not be congenital, we must not be euphoric, we must remain humble," said Prabowo.

"This victory must be the victory of all Indonesian people," said Prabowo.

As of Thursday (15/2/2024) various survey institutions announced the results of quick calculations with an average of 90 percent of incoming votes. The Charta Politica survey institute, for example, showed the Prabowo-Gibran pair received 57.81 percent of the votes, far ahead of the pair Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar and Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD, each of which received 25.66 percent and 16.51 percent of the votes.

However, please note, the results of the quick count are not the official election results. Each institution has a different margin of error. The official election results are still waiting for the vote calculation manually by the General Elections Commission (KPU).

According to NUSANTRA INSTITUTE Executive PolComm SRC Andriadi Achmad, although not the official election result, Prabowo-Gibran's 'victory' was actually not surprising. Because before voting day, the couple's electability was consistently in the top position.

"The result of the quick count is actually not too surprising, because in recent months several high credibility survey institutions have shown an increasing trend of Prabowo-Gibran. Even in some survey institutions, the figure is more than 50 percent," Andriadi told VOI.

"So this victory is actually not something surprising, what is surprising is the potential for a one-round presidential election," he added.

Previously, it was possible for the 2024 presidential election to be carried out in two rounds. The requirements for two-round elections in Indonesia are regulated in Article 416 Paragraph 2 of Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning General Elections.

The two-round election will be held if there are no pairs of presidential and vice-presidential candidates who have won more than 50 percent of the total valid votes with at least 20 percent of the votes in each province spread across more than half the number of provinces in Indonesia.

The Voxpol Center Research and Consulting survey institute said the Prabowo-Gibran pair won a landslide victory in Bali, East Nusa Tenggara, West Nusa Tenggara, DKI Jakarta, Banten, West Java, Central Java, East Java, Kalimantan, Maluku-Papua, Sulawesi, and Sumatra.

"What is surprising is the possibility of a one-round presidential election, because the previous prediction will be two rounds. According to the quick count, Prabowo-Gibran's victory reached 58 percent," said Andriadi.

He added that it is possible that the one-round presidential election will not be separated from the 02 camp, which always believes that the election will take place in one round. According to Andriadi, the discourse that is often echoed before voting could be the strategy of the Nasional Victory Team (TKN) to conduct a brainwash against the community.

However, Andriadi reminded that Prabowo-Gibran's victory did not need to be cynical. Because basically in dynamic politics, it is not impossible that reconciliation will happen again.
