JAKARTA The case of fake doctors has occurred again in Indonesia. No half-hearted, this time the victims are some professional football players.

It was Elwizan Aminuddin, a fake doctor who was finally arrested by the police after two years of being a fugitive. Elwizan was reported in connection with the forgery of diplomas to the Sleman Police on December 3, 2021. At that time, the police had summoned Elwizan as the reported party.

But he never came to fulfill the police summons until he was finally included in the wanted list (DPO). Elwizan Aminuddin had time to verbally resign as of December 1, 2021. He revealed this to PS Sleman President Director, Andy Wardhana, on the grounds that he said goodbye to Palembang because his parents were sick.

After two years on the run, Elwizan was finally arrested at his home in the Cibodas area, Tangerang, Wednesday (24/1/2024).

The news of a fake doctor in the football team in Indonesia is troubling the public. Moreover, Elwizan is known to have committed this fraud for years. According to the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Sleman Police, AKP Riski Adrian, Elwizan Aminudin has been a fake doctor for eight years.

He had handled a number of football clubs to the U-19 national team. Based on the results of police investigations, the suspect is known to have handled nine teams while pretending to be doctors.

"The team, Persita Tangerang, Barito Putra, U-19 national team, Bali United, Madura United, Sriwjijaya, returned to the U-19 national team, Central Kalimantan Putra, PSS Sleman," said Riski.

The case of the arrest of a fake doctor is not the only time this has happened. Last year a fake doctor named Susanto was also arrested. He worked at Pelindo Husada Citra Hospital (PHC Hospital). The man who graduated from high school turned out to have done a similar action several times by falsifying files when applying to health facilities.

In the world of medicine, fake doctors are called doctors, namely someone who does not have a doctor's educational background, but undergoes medical practice.

The Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) has four criteria for doctors. First, ordinary people who practice medicine, accept patients by claiming to be doctors and examining and giving medicine to patients. The second is that a nurse midwife can be categorized as a doctor if she participates in providing medical practice to patients.

The third, which is a doctoroid according to IDI, is someone who provides a medical seminar even though he is not a doctor. Fourth, foreign doctors who open practices without permission in Indonesia.

"This is a concern for us, not only at this time but also a few years ago," said Chairman of PB IDI Adib Khumaidi, SpOT in a webinar on Tuesday (6/2/2024).

"Because there are so many fake doctors, this is our effort to protect the community," he added.

The phenomenon of the number of doctors has raised their own concerns. Moreover, in the last case, the fake doctor had visited several domestic football teams, even the U-19 national team.

In response, member of the Legal Bureau for the Development and Defense of PB IDI Member Gregorius Yoga Panji Asmara revealed that fighting the presence of a doctoroid is a shared responsibility.

Health requires the role of a doctor who is really a doctor, and the involvement of the community at large. IDI as a community partner and part of the community also takes part in fighting this, said Gregorius.

Gregorius added that doctors in the field of sports have a very important role. Among them are providing services at home and outside the hospital, as well as recovery or recovery processes. Doctors in a sports team, especially football, have an important role.

"The need for sports medicine according to paper 2022, which includes health services is urgently needed, in hospitals, outside hospitals, or in terms of recovery or recovery," said Gregorius.

The existence of Elwizan as a fake doctor almost made the career of Indonesian national team goalkeeper Ernando Ari Sutaryadi over. He had suffered a left shoulder injury during a training camp with the U-19 national team.

At that time, Elwizan Aminuddin did not recommend surgery to the player and only asked Ernando to rest. This apparently made his condition worse, but finally went up to the surgical table on August 9, 2020.

Ernando is not the only victim of a doctoroid, Elwizan. Two PSS Sleman players, Saddam Emiruddin Gaffar and Rizza Fadilah suffered anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury, and there was also Leo Saputra who was also hit by ACL injuries.

The doctoral phenomenon actually does not only occur in Indonesia. The New YorkTimes once reported that 33 people contracted HIV in Unnao District, Uttar Pradesh, India after being injected by people who claimed to be doctors. In India, people like this are called thejhola chhaap doctor. The fake doctor uses one injection for many people without cleaning it.

Meanwhile in Europe and the United States, people with similar acts of doctors are known as quack or QUancksaller. An example is what happened in 2016, in Virginia, United States. Malachi Love-Robinson was arrested and imprisoned after holding a doctor practice without permission.
