Diligently Brushing And Loans Illegal, Mahfud MD: Police Work Is Quite Productive

JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD, appreciated the serious steps taken by the Police in dealing with the problem of illegal online loans (pinjol). Because, this action has disturbed the community.

"The police work has been productive for the past 3-4 days. We will not stop because the state must be present to protect the people," Mahfud said in a press conference broadcast on the YouTube of the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, Friday, October 22.

The police, continued Mahfud, were asked to be proactive in protecting victims of illegal loans. Meanwhile, the people who are victims must have the courage to report so that the matter can be resolved immediately.

"Anyone who becomes a victim, is still being terrorized, don't be afraid. Report it to the police, the police are also proactive. If there is something missing, please report it," said the former Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court (MK).

Meanwhile, Kabaresmkrim Polri Komjen Agus Indrarto said that currently his party has handled 13 cases of illegal lending and named 57 suspects throughout Indonesia.

"We will reveal it from the Criminal Investigation Department itself, then the Metro Police, the West Java Police, the West Kalimantan Police, and the Central Java Police," he said at the same press conference. "Then the results of the analysis will be distributed to all regions so that we can act on the perpetrators of this illegal loan business in accordance with what has been decided by the government," said Agus.

As previously reported, the government has finally taken serious steps in eradicating illegal loans. In fact, the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD has asked the public not to pay their loans and all illegal activities are requested to be immediately terminated.

This was conveyed by Mahfud after holding a closed meeting with the Minister of Communication and Information Johnny G Plate, the Financial Services Authority (OJK), and a number of other parties including the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of Pori Komjen Agus Andrianto and the Attorney General's Office Jampidum Fadil Zumhana.
