JAKARTA - The Israeli military withdrew from the Qalandia refugee camp, north of East Jerusalem, in the occupied West Bank, on Thursday night after a nearly two-day military operation that left 51 Palestinians injured, according to Palestinian authorities.

The Israeli military launched a large-scale operation early Wednesday in Qalandia and the nearby town of Kafr Aqab, deploying dozens of military vehicles, bulldozers, and drones.

The military claimed the operation targeted armed individuals, "enemy infrastructure," as well as the possession and trade of weapons.

The Jerusalem Governorate government said Israeli forces withdrew after an operation that included widespread raids, searches and detentions.

It was also stated that a number of houses and other buildings were confiscated and converted into field detention and interrogation centers during the operation.

The Palestinian Red Crescent (PRCS) reported that the number of Palestinians injured since the raid began early Wednesday had reached 51 people, quoted by Anadolu (7/8).

Earlier on Thursday, the Palestinian Prisoners' Association said Israeli forces had detained or carried out field interrogations of more than 60 Palestinians, including women and children.

The Jerusalem District Government stated that residents had to face difficult humanitarian conditions during the raids.

At another location north of occupied Jerusalem, Israeli authorities issued a military order to clear vegetation and uproot olive trees on Palestinian-owned land of about 2.5 dunums (0.6 acres) in the town of Jaba, to expand the illegal settlement road Route 437.

Israeli forces carry out military raids almost daily across the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem.

Since the start of Israel's genocidal war on Gaza in October 2023, attacks by the Israeli military and occupation authorities across the occupied West Bank have sharply increased; these attacks have killed more than 1,182 Palestinians, injured around 13,000 people, and led to the arrest of nearly 24,000 others, according to official Palestinian data.
