JAKARTA - The West Java Regional Police's Cyber Investigation Directorate (Ditresiber) arrested a private employee with the initials FG who allegedly manipulated President Prabowo Subianto's video using artificial intelligence (AI) technology and then spread it through social media. The suspect is threatened with a maximum prison sentence of 12 years.

Head of Public Relations of the West Java Police, Kombes Pol. Hendra Rochmawan said the disclosure of the case began with a report from the public received on August 3, 2026.

The reporter with the initials FSS reported the upload on the TikTok account @talentastudio.id and Instagram @talentastudio.id which allegedly featured President Prabowo Subianto's video manipulated using AI.

According to Hendra, the video shows a figure of President Prabowo who has been modified and accompanied by negative narratives.

"There is a video of AI content manipulation that shows President Prabowo Subianto, there is even a narrative in the video that if he becomes President, the country will be chaotic," said Hendra in a press conference at the West Java Police Headquarters, Jalan Soekarno-Hatta, Bandung City, Thursday, August 6.

The report was then followed up by investigators from the West Java Police's Ditreskrim. Based on the results of the investigation, the police managed to identify and arrest the alleged perpetrator with the initials FG in Surabaya, East Java.

"The initials are FG," said Hendra.

During the arrest, investigators also secured a number of evidence, including one iPhone 15 Pro Max unit, a TikTok account, an Instagram account, a Gmail account, and a CPU unit that was allegedly used in the process of creating and distributing content.

Kasubdit I Ditressiber Polda Jawa Barat AKBP Ambarita said based on the initial examination, the suspect admitted to making and uploading the video to increase the number of viewers and followers of his social media account.

"If the language of the perpetrator is to make it crowded, it's his account, let's FYP. So there is no particular interest from FG's statement," said Ambarita.

Meanwhile, Deputy Director of Cyber West Java Police AKBP Mujianto explained that the suspect's actions were allegedly related to the crime of identity theft (identity theft) through manipulation of digital data.

According to him, the suspect used AI technology to manipulate President Prabowo Subianto's image into a video which was then uploaded to the TikTok account @TalentaStudio.ID and Instagram @TalentaStudio.ID.

"By way of the reported or suspect manipulating the image of President Prabowo Subianto through AI and making the manipulated result a video then uploading the video on the TikTok social media with the account @TalentaStudio.ID and Instagram @TalentaStudio.ID," said Mujianto.

For his actions, FG was charged with Article 45A paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 28 paragraph (2), and/or Article 32 in conjunction with Article 48, and/or Article 35 in conjunction with Article 51 of Law Number 1 of 2024 concerning the Second Amendment to Law Number 11 of 2008 concerning Information and Electronic Transactions (ITE Law), as well as Article 263 paragraph (1) and Article 242 of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code (KUHP).

"The threat of punishment for the suspect is imprisonment for a maximum of 12 years and/or a fine of up to Rp. 12 billion," concluded Mujianto.
