Bring Ecstasy and Methamphetamine to Sell in the Jail, the Defendant in the Narcotics Case is Arrested Again After Attending the Trial

JAKARTA - Officers at the Jakarta Central Class I State Prison (Rutan) have again thwarted an attempt to smuggle methamphetamine and inex.

The incident began when a prisoner of correction (WBP) with the initials FK arrived at the Central Jakarta Class I Detention Center after attending a trial from the West Jakarta District Court.

The inmates then underwent body and goods examination procedures according to the standard operating procedures in force at the Main Gate (P2U).

When entering the body checking area, officers saw suspicious movements from the inmates. Thanks to the thoroughness and vigilance of the officers in carrying out a thorough inspection, the person concerned seemed to have difficulty when asked to squat.

"When the officers ordered to stay crouched, a black plastic bag fell from his body. After being dismantled, two plastic clips containing white powder suspected of being methamphetamine weighing 8.54 grams and one package containing a pink-colored drug suspected of being inex narcotics weighing 2.18 grams were found," said Head of the Jakarta Central Class I Prison, Wahyu Trah Utomo, Thursday, August 6, 2026.

From the temporary confession, the prohibited goods were obtained from visitors. The plan was to distribute the prohibited goods inside the cell under the control of another inmate with the initials DM, with a promise of a reward of Rp. 1 million.

Based on these findings, officers immediately coordinated with the Head of the Security Unit and the Head of the Detention Center, and secured the inmates and evidence to be reported to the DKI Jakarta Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights and handed over to the Polda Metro Jaya for further investigation and development.

"This successful disclosure is a tangible proof of the commitment of the Jakarta Central Class I Prison in creating a clean correctional environment from the circulation of drugs and supporting the implementation of the Zero HALINAR (Handphone, Illegal Collection, and Drugs) program in the correctional environment," said Wahyu.

Furthermore, Wahyu added, his party would not tolerate any officers, inmates or visitors who violated the rules of order at the Jakarta Central Class I Detention Center.

Head of the Jakarta Central Class I Prison Security Unit, Desman A. Prasetya, asked all security personnel to continue to increase vigilance and tighten supervision on every service and entry and exit routes.

"Especially the examination procedure for inmates after the trial, in order to prevent any form of smuggling of prohibited goods into the prison," he said.
