JAKARTA - The number of deaths due to the devastating earthquake that hit Kumamoto Prefecture in southwestern Japan has increased to 28 people. .

Thousands of households are still experiencing power outages and water supply disruptions, which has sparked concerns about the conditions of the refugees.

The Kumamoto Prefectural Government reported that more than 10,000 people were still in evacuation centers as of Thursday morning.

Aftershocks have continued to shake the area since the main quake.
