Jordanian Military Rejects 5 Iranian Missiles

YORDANIA - The Jordanian military said its air defense system intercepted and downed five missiles launched from Iran early Wednesday.

"The Jordanian Armed Forces continue to carry out their duties to protect the Kingdom's airspace as well as maintain its security and sovereignty, and will not hesitate to face any threats to the country's security or the safety of its citizens," a military spokesman said, as reported by CNN, Wednesday, July 29.

The statement was made after the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it had launched a ballistic missile towards a US military target in Jordan, as reported by Iran's state-run media, Press TV.

Separately, the US Central Command (US Central Command) said the IRGC launched a "sudden attack attempt" against US forces in the Middle East, although it did not specify the exact location.
