JAKARTA - The Mayor of Moscow on Tuesday said that more than 390 drones targeted the Moscow region last night, hours before Ukrainian Leader Volodymyr Zelensky was expected to meet with US President Donald Trump.

"Between 20.30 (1730 GMT) and 06.30, more than 390 drones flew towards the Moscow region. Most were neutralized by air defense forces long before they reached the city. 81 enemy UAVs were destroyed while approaching Moscow," wrote Mayor Sergei Sobyanin on Telegram, launching Al Arabiya from AFP (28/7).

Then, the Russian Defense Ministry said a total of 356 Ukrainian drones had been shot down in more than a dozen regions, including near the capital.

Neither the defense ministry nor Sobyanin explained the difference.

Meanwhile, Moscow Region Governor Andrey Vorobyov also reported drone attacks damaging housing in the city of Chekhov and the village of Vaulovo.

There were no immediate reports of any damage.

Ukraine has stepped up its long-range counterattacks against Russian energy, logistics and military sites - a campaign Kyiv says is a just response to Moscow's nightly bombardment of their cities.
