JAKARTA - Public Policy and Government Governance Researcher, Gian Kasogi, assessed that the investigation into the alleged corruption involving former Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus), Febrie Adriansyah, should be directed at revealing intellectual actors who are at a higher structural level. According to him, this step is important so that the investigation does not stop at the field actors, but is able to reveal the parties who are suspected of having a strategic role in the case.
Gian made the statement in a public discussion entitled "Uncovering TPPU and Alleged Intellectual Actors Behind the Former Jampidsus Case: Testing the Independence and Integrity of Law Enforcement" which was held by the Millennial Activist Network (JAM) in Central Jakarta, Friday, July 24.
"If the investigators are serious about uncovering intellectual actors in the case of the former Jampidsus Febrie Adriansyah, the investigation should be carried out upwards, not downwards. With this step, intellectual actors and alleged money laundering (TPPU) crimes can be dismantled," said Gian.
According to Gian, the public is still waiting for an official explanation from law enforcement regarding Febrie Adriansyah's capacity in the case being handled. He questioned whether the person concerned was examined in his capacity as a former Jampidsus or as the Head of the Forest Area Control Task Force (Satgas PKH).
Gian considers the clarity of the status to be important because it will determine the direction of the development of the investigation and the parties who need to be held accountable.
If Febrie is examined in his capacity as a former Jampidsus, he said, then the investigation into the alleged intellectual actors should structurally lead to officials above him in the chain of command.
Meanwhile, if the determination of the status of a suspect is made in his capacity as Chairman of the PKH Task Force, the development of the case, including the alleged crime of money laundering, according to Gian, needs to include all elements in the PKH Task Force structure, ranging from the Director General, Deputy Chairman, Executive Chairman, to members of the task force.
"The explanation regarding the status of the suspect of the former Jampidsus FA is important so that the public can monitor the legal process and continue to encourage the disclosure of intellectual actors as well as alleged TPPU that is suspected of harming the national economy," he said.
The discussion organized by the Millennial Activist Network (JAM) also featured Public Policy Analyst and Political Economy Observer Faisal Lohi, Executive Director of Indonesia Political Review (IPR) Iwan Setiawan, Criminal Law Expert at Mataram University Ufran Trisa, Head of Advocacy of the Indonesian Legal Aid Center (PBHI) Akbar Roohul Amin, and Gian Kasogi as a Public Policy and Government Governance Researcher.
The activity was attended by student organizations, millennial activist networks, researchers, practitioners, student representatives, and the general public.
