TNI Records 19.2 Million Ton Rice Production, Achieves 55 Percent Target 2026

MALANG - The Indonesian Army reported that the production of rice from the land it was adjacent to reached 19.2 million tons from January to June 2026. The amount is said to have supported 55.24 percent of the national rice production target this year.

TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto conveyed this achievement to President Prabowo Subianto during the Simultaneous Harvest with the TNI in Malang, East Java, Friday, July 17.

The production comes from a total harvest area of 6.26 million hectares during the first six months of 2026.

In July, the TNI AD again accompanied the rice harvest on an area of 479,659 hectares.

"From January to June 2026, the total harvested area reached 6.26 million hectares with a production of 19.2 million tons of rice," said the TNI Commander.

The TNI divides food assistance based on matra. The TNI AD handles rice, the TNI AU assists sugar cane, while the TNI AL focuses on soybeans.

The TNI Commander said that the results were achieved through cooperation between the TNI, government, state-owned enterprises, business world, academics, and the community.

Although it has passed half of the annual target, the TNI Commander did not specify the distribution of rice production or the number of land that will be harvested by the end of 2026.

He also did not mention the amount of harvest which is estimated to come from an area of 479,659 hectares in July.

In his report, the TNI Commander asked for the President's direction so that the TNI food assistance program remained in line with government policies.

The program is carried out as part of the government's efforts to strengthen national food production.
