TNI AU Assists 236,048 Hectare of Sugarcane, Targets 45 Percent of National Sugar Target

MALANG - The Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU) is assisting in the management of 236,048 hectares of sugarcane land in the 2026 harvest season. The land is estimated to produce 18.386 million tons of sugarcane or equivalent to 1.36 million tons of sugar.

TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto said that production has the potential to contribute 45.05 percent to this year's national sugar target.

The TNI Commander delivered the report to President Prabowo Subianto during the Simultaneous Harvest with the TNI in Malang, East Java, Friday, July 17.

The assistance was carried out by the Indonesian Air Force together with Sinergi Gula Nusantara, a private company, and a farmers' association.

"In the 2026 harvest season, we will accompany an area of 236,048 hectares with a production potential of 18.386 million tons of sugar cane, equivalent to 1.36 million tons of sugar," said the TNI Commander.

In the area of Pangkalan TNI AU Abdulrachman Saleh, Malang, the land ready to be harvested reached 800.5 hectares. Production is estimated to reach 72,045 tons of sugar cane.

According to the TNI Commander, the average price received from the factory reached Rp720,000 per ton.

The harvested sugar cane is not only processed into sugar. Pangliman TNI said that its derivatives can be used to produce molasses, bioethanol, industrial and pharmaceutical materials, as well as organic fertilizers.

The TNI food assistance program is divided based on the matra. The TNI Air Force handles sugarcane commodities, the TNI Navy assists soybeans, while the TNI Army focuses on rice.

General Agus Subiyanto said the distribution was a follow-up to President Prabowo's direction in supporting national food production.

He asked for the President's direction that the TNI assistance program remain in line with government policies and provide benefits to the community.
