JAKARTA - A joint SAR team found two children who drowned in the irrigation canal of Kalibenda Village, Banjarnegara Regency, Central Java, Thursday, dead.

Head of the Semarang SAR Office Budiono said the two victims, Muhammad Fadli AI Fayad (10) and Zafran (12), residents of Kalibenda Village, Sigaluh District, Banjarnegara Regency, were reported missing on Wednesday (15/7) afternoon.

The victim, Muhammad Fadli, was found about 1.7 km from the start of the reported disappearance, while the victim, Zafran, was found about 3.5 km from the location where he was reported missing.

"The two bodies of the victims were then taken to Banjarnegara Hospital for further treatment," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, July 16.

Muhammad Fadli and Zafran were reported missing while playing around an irrigation canal in Kalibenda Village, Banjarnegara Regency, on Wednesday (15/7).

Residents around the location tried to search in the irrigation channel with a depth of between 1.5 to 2 meters, before finally asking for help from the joint SAR team.

The search process on the first day was hampered by the strong current due to the irrigation channel gate which was still open.
