JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Empowerment and Family Welfare Movement (TP PKK) together with PAM Jaya Women's Power have distributed 500 free water towers to Jakarta residents. This program targets areas that are still experiencing unstable water pressure as an effort to strengthen the availability of clean water at the household level.
The Chairman of the DKI Jakarta TP PKK, Hani Pramono Anung, directly reviewed the distribution of the assistance in the Matraman Pegangsaan area, Central Jakarta. The distribution of the tower was carried out to a number of sub-districts in Central Jakarta, with Menteng Sub-district receiving the largest allocation, namely 170 units, because there are still areas that experience low water pressure.
In addition to Menteng, assistance was also distributed to Karang Anyar, Kartini, Duri Pulo, Kampung Bali, Tanah Tinggi, Kemayoran, and Kebon Kosong.
This distribution is part of the target of distributing 5,000 free water towers throughout 2026. Previously, 1,000 towers had been distributed in the period from January to May. With an additional 500 towers, the total assistance that has been distributed until July 13, 2026 has reached 1,500 units.
A total of 3,500 other torens will be distributed gradually to other areas in Jakarta.
Hani said that the program is expected to help the community maintain the availability of clean water at home, as well as support the daily needs of residents who are still facing water pressure problems.
"Hopefully this collaboration will continue so that more families throughout the Jakarta region can feel the benefits of better access to water," said Hani, quoted on Wednesday, July 15.
One of the recipients of the assistance, Juliana, admitted that the water tower was very helpful to her family. For decades as a PAM Jaya customer, he previously only relied on buckets to hold water.
"I have been a customer for 30 years, previously I only stored it in buckets, now there is a clearer, safer and more secure storage, activities are also easier, this assistance is very useful and residents are also happy with this program," said Juliana.
Another recipient, Kenny, who is an elderly person, also feels the benefits of the program. Before having a tower, he had to collect water using a bucket every day. Now, the water needs in his house are easier to meet without having to get up in the morning to collect water.
