JAKARTA - The Director General of Rosatom stated that the Russian state-owned nuclear energy company has begun to repatriate its employees to Iran.

Six Russian employees have now returned to Tehran, although the process of returning employees to their posts at the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) in western Iran was "interrupted" due to recent attacks.

The head of Rosatom said on Friday, July 10, there had been attacks in Bushehr Province, Iran, in recent days. However, there was no attack on the nuclear power plant itself.

Bushehr is Iran's only operating nuclear power plant reactor.

Iranian authorities said in March 2026 that the projectile had hit the area around the power plant several times.

Then in April, Iranian state media reported a projectile damaged a building near the power plant and killed a security guard.

Concerns over an outbreak of war between the US and Iran prompted Rosatom to evacuate around 200 staff from the Bushehr nuclear power plant on April 4, state media reported at the time.

On Thursday night, Iran's IRNA news agency reported that military facilities near the city of Bushehr were hit by "US-Israeli enemy projectiles," citing the statement of the deputy governor of political and security affairs of Bushehr Province.

IRNA did not provide details on the level of damage or casualties.

However, a US official told CNN that the US military was not currently launching an attack.

Meanwhile, Israeli officials said they were unaware of Israel's involvement in the current attack on Iran.
