Hamas Continues to Consult with Russia on Resolution of Conflict Palestine

JAKARTA - The Palestinian movement Hamas regularly consults with Russia on the process of resolving the Palestinian conflict as well as the broader situation in the region.

"Meetings between Hamas and the Russian Foreign Ministry take place on a regular basis. We travel to Moscow regularly, and during these visits we discuss all political aspects related to the Palestinian issue as well as the overall situation in the region," said Deputy Head of the Hamas Political Bureau, Musa Abu Marzouk, as reported by ANTARA from RIA Novosti Wednesday, June 17.

Previously, the Hamas delegation visited Moscow to hold talks and discuss a number of issues, including the implementation of the Gaza settlement plan proposed by US President Donald Trump.

Last week, a meeting between Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Georgy Borisenko and Abu Marzouk took place. Both parties discussed the need to ensure a sustainable ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

In mid-November, the United Nations Security Council approved a resolution submitted by the United States to support Trump's comprehensive plan to resolve the situation in Gaza. A total of 13 of the 15 council members voted in favor, while Russia and China abstained.

The United States' plan for Gaza proposes the establishment of a temporary international administration in the Gaza region as well as the establishment of a peace council led by Trump. In addition, the plan also includes the deployment of international stabilization forces.
