Bogor DPRD Launches Braille Bylaws for Disability Access on City’s 544th Anniversary

BOGOR - The Regional Representative Council (DPRD) of Bogor City has made a new breakthrough in the momentum of the 544th Anniversary of Bogor (HJB). As a tangible manifestation of concern for information equality, the Bogor City DPRD officially launched the transfer of the Regional Regulation (Perda) into Braille for people with disabilities.

The launch of this innovation was carried out at the 544th HJB Plenary Meeting held at the Bogor City DPRD Building on Wednesday, June 3, 2026.

Carrying the theme "Bogor Nanjeur, Walking Together Towards a Prosperous Bogor", this moment is a new history in fulfilling the rights of people with disabilities in the Rainy City.

This event was attended directly by the Deputy Governor of West Java H. Erwan Setiawan, Bogor Mayor Dedie A. Rachim, and Deputy Mayor of Bogor Jenal Mutaqin.

The arrival of the entourage was greeted by the Head of the Bogor City DPRD, Dr. Adityawarman Adil, accompanied by the Deputy Chairmen of the DPRD, namely M. Rusli Prihatevy, Zenal Abidin, and Dadang Iskandar Danubrata, with the Rampak Kendang adat procession, scarf wrapping, and pigeon release.

The Chairman of the Bogor City DPRD, Dr. Adityawarman Adil, emphasized that the transfer of legal documents into Braille is a concrete step for the region in implementing Law Number 8 of 2016 concerning Persons with Disabilities.

Through this policy, the netra disability group now has equal rights and access to legal information in Bogor City.

"The 544th Bogor Anniversary Plenary Meeting is an important momentum to reflect on the long journey of regional development, as well as strengthen our joint commitment to realize a more advanced, inclusive, and prosperous future for Bogor," said Adityawarman Adil.

Apart from the disability-friendly regulation, this plenary meeting also discussed other important regulations, including regional regulations related to women's protection and handling of violence in the educational environment. To ensure that the principle of benefit is widespread, all documents of the Braille version of the regulation will be stored in the Bogor City Library so that it is easily accessible to the public.

The progressive steps of the Bogor City DPRD received high appreciation from the West Java Provincial Government. Deputy Governor of West Java, H. Erwan Setiawan conveyed the importance of development that touches all layers of society without exception.

According to Erwan, the progress of a city is not only judged by the grandeur of physical infrastructure, but also by how all elements embrace each other, including providing friendly services for people with disabilities.

"I also want to emphasize that the progress of a city is not only measured by tall buildings, but also by the strength of mutual love between the government, DPRD, and all communities. Therefore, synergy and collaboration must continue to be maintained," said Erwan Setiawan.

In the same place, Bogor Mayor Dedie A. Rachim highlighted the importance of aligning modern innovation with local historical and cultural roots. According to Dedie, the challenges of globalization should not erode the original identity of Bogor residents, which is full of gotong royong values.

Dedie added that in addition to focusing on social inclusiveness through the launch of the Braille Ordinance, the Bogor City Government is strongly committed to encouraging economic recovery through the creative economy sector, tourism, and the development of MSMEs.

Innovations in infrastructure and public services are expected to accelerate sustainable regional economic growth.

The 544th HJB commemoration was closed with great hope that the spirit of "Bogor Nanjeur" can trigger a higher public awareness of the importance of equality, social protection, and togetherness to bring Bogor City to be a creative, cultural, and advanced city in the future.
