Judicial Commission Monitors Trial of Student Murder Case in NTB

MATARAM - The Judicial Commission is monitoring the trial of the alleged murder of a student on Nipah Beach which took place at the Mataram District Court, West Nusa Tenggara.

Head of Judicial Commission's Judicial Supervision and Investigation Abhan said the monitoring was carried out to ensure that the trial was carried out in accordance with the provisions and the code of ethics of judges.

"We monitor to ensure that the trial process is in accordance with the provisions of the law and prevent violations of the code of ethics and guidelines for the conduct of judges," said Abhan as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, May 22.

In addition to the case with the defendant Radiet Adiansyah, the Judicial Commission also monitored the trial for the alleged murder of police member Esco Faska Rely and the alleged gratification case of members of the West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) DPRD.

Abhan said the monitoring was carried out openly until the agenda of the first instance court decision by involving the Judicial Commission Liaison Office in NTB.

"We ask the KY liaison in NTB to monitor," he said.

He explained that monitoring of the three cases was carried out on the initiative of the Judicial Commission Liaison Office in NTB because it was a public concern.

According to him, if there are indications of violations of the code of ethics of judges, the Judicial Commission will follow up according to the procedure by requesting in-depth clarification.

"If there is a suspicion of a judge's violation, of course we will follow up with an in-depth investigation," he said.

Abhan revealed that the results of the interim monitoring found a number of things that were still in the process of being deepened.

"There are some that are still in the process, of course we can't say now. Later the results and recommendations will be submitted to the Supreme Court," he said.
