JAKARTA - The United Arab Emirates (UAE) Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) has denied a statement claiming that Israeli Prime Minister (PM) Benjamin Netanyahu made a secret visit to meet with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed (MBZ) in the UAE.
The statement released by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office revealed that the secret meeting was held during Israel's 40-day war with the United States (US) against Iran.
"The UAE reiterates that its relations with Israel are public and are carried out within the framework of the well-known Abraham Accords and officially announced, and are not based on non-transparent or unofficial arrangements," read a statement from the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Thursday, May 14, quoted from the media TimesofIsrael.
The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that the news of Netanyahu-MBZ meeting in secret in the UAE during the Israel-US attack on Iran was not true, arguing that the UAE government had never officially announced it.
According to the Ministry, the PM Netanyahu's social media account operated by elements of the Israeli Government spreads unverified information or promotes misleading political narratives.
"Therefore, any claims regarding unannounced visits or arrangements that were not disclosed at all are unfounded unless officially announced by the relevant authorities in the UAE," the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs statement continued.
As previously reported, the Israeli Prime Minister's office issued a statement via the official X social media account that Netanyahu secretly visited the UAE during the 40-day US-Israeli war against Iran, which has been ongoing since February 28, 2026.
"In the midst of Operation Lion's Roar, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu secretly visited the United Arab Emirates, where he met with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed," the official X account of the Israeli PM's office, @IsraeliPM, said on Thursday, May 14.
