Government Targets Revitalization of 71,744 Schools with a Budget of Rp14 Trillion This Year

JAKARTA - The government targets that the School Revitalization Program will reach 71,744 educational units by 2026 with a budget of Rp. 14 trillion.

The Minister of Basic and Secondary Education (Mendikdasmen) Abdul Mu'ti said the target was part of efforts to improve the quality of national education facilities and infrastructure.

"Mr. President (Prabowo Subianto) has said it several times, so that in 2026 the revitalization program can target 71,744 educational units," said the Minister of Education and Culture, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, May 5.

The Minister of Education and Culture explained that the implementation of the revitalization program for 2026 has begun. So far, the government has completed thousands of collaborations with educational units and has begun to distribute assistance with a total of Rp. 2.6 trillion.

Currently, his party has completed a cooperation agreement with 4,838 educational units, with the distribution of assistance that has reached 3,408 schools. A number of revitalization projects have also entered the initial stage of construction in various regions.

Abdul Mu'ti emphasized that the government set priorities in the implementation of the revitalization program in 2026. The main focus is given to schools that have been damaged by natural disasters.

"In 2026, revitalization is prioritized for schools that are damaged as an impact of disasters. Schools that are affected by natural disasters both in Sumatra and in other regions in Indonesia," he said.

In addition, he continued, the government also prioritizes schools in lagging, leading, and outermost areas (3T), as well as schools with heavy damage levels even though they are not in disaster areas or 3T.
