JAKARTA - The Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos) is moving quickly to accelerate the eradication of extreme poverty in Lampung by distributing Social Rehabilitation Assistance (Atensi) assistance worth Rp892.7 million.
The assistance targets 441 residents of Pringsewu Regency who fall into the lowest economic category or desil 1 to 5 in the National Socio-Economic Integrated Data (DTSEN). This distribution is a tangible step by the government in strengthening the social safety net for vulnerable groups in the area.
The Expert Staff of the Minister of Social Affairs, Alif Kamal, detailed that the beneficiaries consisted of 107 elderly people, 178 disabled people, 69 children, and 87 residents from the social tuna group, victims of Napza abuse, and ODHIV.
Each assistance is provided specifically according to the needs of each cluster, such as nutrition for children to assistive devices for disabilities. Not only consumptive assistance, the Ministry of Social Affairs also provides Rp2.4 million in seed capital for productive age residents, which can be increased to Rp5 million through a sustainable empowerment program.
"Hopefully those who get the pilot program will have a continuation through the empowerment program," said Alif Kamal in his statement in Jakarta, Thursday (30/4). He also reminded the importance of the role of local governments in verifying and validating data periodically so that the assistance disbursed by the state is truly targeted and has a real impact on reducing poverty.
In line with this, the Head of the Handayani Center for Social Affairs, Hisyam Cholil, emphasized that the presence of this assistance is the result of close collaboration between the center and the region. Referring to the Minister of Social Affairs Regulation Number 7 of 2022, the Atensi program uses a family and community-based approach that includes physical, psychosocial, and vocational training support.
The presence of the Regent of Pringsewu Riyanto Pamungkas and the Deputy Regent Umi Laila in the distribution process also further strengthens the commitment of the region in supporting the economic independence of its citizens.
Hisyam hopes that the capital assistance and assistive devices provided will not only alleviate the burden for a moment, but will be a stepping stone for Pringsewu residents to get out of the poverty trap.
"We hope that this program will have a positive impact on community independence," he concluded. Through this program, the government is optimistic that integrated and entrepreneurial-based interventions will create a more resilient and productive society in the future.
