JAKARTA - The Philippine government ensures that assistance services for citizens in crisis continue to run even though government offices implement energy-saving work schemes. The Philippine News Agency (PNA) which was quoted on Friday, April 17 reported that the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS), or assistance for citizens who are facing a crisis, continues to serve the community on weekdays.
Director of the Crisis Intervention Program of the Philippine Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Edwin Morata said the service is open to anyone who needs additional assistance in an emergency situation. As written by PNA, AICS can be accessed regardless of the recipient's background, both in terms of gender, sector, and economic conditions.
"We are open from 08.00 to 17.00 to serve your needs," said Morata.
He emphasized that assistance would be assessed based on the current conditions, the ability of the recipient, and the form of assistance needed. Therefore, each case is first examined by social workers.
According to Morata, licensed social workers run this program by following the applicable guidelines and rules. The goal is for each recipient to receive assistance in accordance with the results of the assessment.
Morata also explained that drivers who previously received emergency cash assistance or Cash Relief Assistance (CRA) could still access AICS, as long as they experienced an unexpected crisis.
The AICS program serves as a social safety net for individuals and families affected by emergency situations, such as illness, death of family members, natural disasters, non-natural disasters, and other crises.
Through this program, the Filipino people can access various assistance, ranging from medical expenses, hospitalization, transportation, to funerals.
