Trump admits Iran still has military capabilities despite being the target of US attacks

JAKARTA - US President Donald Trump admitted that Iran still maintains military capabilities even though it has been the target of US attacks.

"They (Iran) are tough, and they are smart, and they still have some ability," Trump told the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as reported by Sputnik, Friday, July 24.

However, Trump rejected reports by a number of US media outlets that Tehran is now in a stronger position than it was four months ago.

According to his view, the situation for the United States is developing better than anyone expected.

On the night leading up to June 18, Tehran and Washington signed a memorandum that regulated the cessation of the conflict that began on February 28.

However, since July 8, the United States has launched a series of attacks on Iran.

The United States Central Command (US Central Command/CENTCOM) stated that the attack was a response to Iran's actions against commercial vessels crossing the Strait of Hormuz.

Iranian forces then retaliated by launching an attack on a number of US military bases in the Middle East region.

Trump said the ceasefire between the United States and Iran was no longer in effect.
